Singer Houston, famous for his hit single “I Like That” with Chingy and Nate Dogg, gouged out one of his eyes while in Europe for a promotional tour. Yes, you read that correctly! Sources close to the situation say the strictly Christian raised artist was having trouble adjusting to what he terms the “evils and sins of the business.” One source claims he felt as though he was possessed and had to ‘pluck out the offending eye’; they have since reported that he now feels “at peace and closer to God.” His former management, however, says that he is suffering from mental illness and spent time under psychiatric care late last year. The family and the management have been at odds over the way Houston’s business affairs are being handled, with his former manager saying the family isn’t savvy financially and have caused him to miss great opportunities. Houston is now back stateside and after surgery is resting comfortably. His family has asked for our prayers. He definitely needs them.

The $56.6 million dollars banked by Prince in 2004 has placed the music legend at the top of “Rolling Stone” magazine's annual list of top earning music acts. "With 90.3 million dollars in ticket sales, Prince returned to center stage after a decade in the commercial wilderness," the magazine said in its latest issue. He also sold 1.9 million copies of his don’t-call-it-a-comeback album "Musicology." Not bad for an artist who doesn’t use mainstream advertising or distribution.

Every single surviving member of the Wu-Tang Clan will appear on a tribute song dedicated to the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, who died in November while working on his first album since being released from jail. Wu-Tang founder RZA hopes the track, tentatively titled "I Go Through Life," will appear on ODB's album, which will be a joint venture between RZA's Wu-Tang Records imprint and the new Damon Dash Music Group. Method Man, Raekwon and Macy Gray appear on the album’s proposed first single "Intoxicated," which RZA produced and describes as "pretty unique." About five other tracks he collaborated on with ODB are expected to make the final cut, including "The Stomp Part 2," on which ODB "got a chance to be his crazy self." Courtesy of EURweb.com

The “New York Daily News” is reporting that Sean “P. Diddy” Combs is on the verge of a $30 million deal to sell half of his Bad Boy record label to Warner Music Group. Combs has reportedly agreed to the last-minute agreement after initial talks with Warner went sour. Warner is looking to gain some credibility in the hip-hop world before a possible public offering later this year. Like BET, Essence and a growing number of others, another Black media outlet sells its stake to a non-Black interest. Grassroots, people, remember.
