LisCar
Designs
Brooklyn-based designer, LisCar, has emerged
onto the jewelry scene with bold statements
in precious and semi-precious stones.
Culturally blended, her collection features
rarely seen gemstones combined to create
a serious sense of whimsy. African Agate,
Indian Carnelian, and Tibetan Lapis, represent
just a sampling of the stones that are
translated into exceptionally unique designs.
Jamaican-born, she infuses
her collection with the warmth, spontaneity,
and charm of her childhood home. Using
colors and shapes reminiscent of great
Caribbean architects, her collection is
styled to exude confidence as its cornerstone.
A graphic designer by training, her vision
translates into bold, culturally diverse
works of art.
As a child, she was mesmerized
by the crystals and pearls her grandmother
used to adorn the gowns in the families’
couture shop in Kingston. As she matured,
crystal and pearls gave way to jade and
carnelian. The fusion of leather, metal
and stone, ground each design with a unique
spiritual balance. Her passion is stylizing
precious and semi precious creations that
reflect her joy for living. LisCar Designs
has been cultivated mostly by word of
mouth, through private showings and commissioned
works made for a select clientele. However,
the arrival of her jewelry at boutiques
and jewelry stores such as Park Slope’s
El Milagro and Fort Greene’s Courtney
Washington is sure to place LisCar Designs
firmly on the radar screen of both fashion
stylists and those who love to stand apart
from the crowded stream of trendy followers.
When asked which aspect
of the designing is most satisfying, LisCar
confesses, “It’s the ability
to find that distinct quality in each
person I am is creating for, and being
able to craft something that uniquely
speaks that trait. The length of a neck
or the coloring of the eyes, they all
say something special about the person
who possesses them.” Using the highest
quality stones, in their pure uncut form,
and only those with exceptional characteristics,
she produces jewelry that stands on the
level of artistry; they belong in the
shops on Park Avenue. Lucky for us, she’s
in Brooklyn. For now. For more information
