New York prepares once again for dancehall’s “Energy God”. Elephant Man is ready to bring another show stopping performance to this year’s “On Da Reggae Tip Live”. The second annual HOT 97 sponsored show, set for September 4th, will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom and feature dancehall‚s brightest stars such as TOK, Wayne Wonder, Bounty Killer, and Vybz Kartel. The show will be hosted by Bobby Konders

The name Sanchez is synonymous with lover’s rock reggae. “No More Heartaches”, due to be released on September 24th by VP Records, is a collection of newly recorded songs that bring together a well-tested formula and a classic voice. With music by the likes of Mafia & Fluxy, and Sly Dunbar, and production the experience of Lloyd Campbell and Dean ‘Cannon’ Fraser, this album adds up to a big win for the listener.

Dancehall artist Sean Paul pleaded guilty Monday to using profanity during last month’s Reggae Sumfest concert in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Police from the St. James parish issued him a summons last month for using profanity during his performance at the annual reggae festival. Police had warned the Sumfest’s promoters and performers that a law against using indecent language onstage during public performances would be strictly enforced. Paul appeared in person, apologized for wasting the court’s time and promised it would not happen again. According to a St. James court spokesperson, his dutty mouth cost Sean Paul the equivalent of US$34.

Jamaica’s favorite funny man Oliver Samuels is back in New York. Performing with Glen “Titus” Campbell in “Oliver Large Abroad”, he continues to bring side-splitting and uproarious laughter to audiences who know him and those seeing his brand of physical comedy for the first time. The hybridization of dancehall and hip hop continues. Lil Jon whose southern style crunk hit “Get Low” had a long run on top of the charts, is planning a series of remixes. The first Get Low remix will feature deejay Elephant Man and Busta Rhymes. The second will be a Latin remix, and the third, you guessed it, another dancehall remix featuring Beenie Man with Nelly, for that St. Louis flavor.

Sean Paul plays Clyde to Beyonce’s Bonnie in the video for their chart topping duet “Baby Boy”. “It’s a crazy shoot where I happen to be this dude, and she’s dreaming about me with some other girls around me,” he began to explain recently. “You don’t see any faces, but you see me in the middle of flesh. The performances me and her gave were hot.” Relax Jay-Z, it’s all in fun.
