Welcome to the “SPICE”
Island of Grenada. Grenada
is located in the Eastern Caribbean,
only 100 miles north of Venezuela, also
to the north lies St. Vincent
and the Grenadines;
to the south Trinidad and Tobago. The
Island is populated by approximately 93,000
natives with an average climate ranging
from 24C/75F to 30C/87F. Grenada is said
to be a rolling, mountainous island, covered
with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical
flowers. Bordered by stunning beaches,
and dotted with scenic towns, this verdant
island has long been a major source of
nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and
cocoa.
The island is also known for its volcanic
terrain, reaching heights of over 2,750
feet atop Mount St. Catherine.
In the interior of this volcanic island
are cascading rivers and waterfalls, lush
rainforests, and one of the most breathtakingly
beautiful mountain lakes imaginable. The
capital, St.George's,
is widely held to be the loveliest city
in the Caribbean. Its horseshoe-shaped
harbor is surrounded by a pastel rainbow
of dockside warehouses and the red-tiled
roofs of traditional shops and homes.

TOURISM- Grenada is moderate
in tourism, averaging approximately 400,000
visitors annually and is complemented
by its rich beaches and coral reefs. The
island is ringed with miles of picture-perfect
strands, including both entrancing black
and sugar-fine white sand beaches. Grand
Anse Beach, a smooth expanse
stretching for two miles around the curve
of a gentle bay, is world famous. Grenada
has plenty to offer those interested in
offshore pleasure as well, with easily
accessible and pristine reefs off the
coast of both Grenada and its sister island,
Carriacou.
FOOD- Grenada is mainly
known for its national dish called
"Oil-Down".
It is a very simple, delicious and robust
dish, which is extremely popular at local
"cook-ups", (barbecue parties
at the beach). It's a hearty one-pot meal
of salted meat (pig tail), chicken, dumplings,
breadfruit, callaloo ((KAL-la-loo) - made
from young dasheen leaves) and other vegetables.
The whole thing is stewed in coconut milk,
herbs and spices to add even more flavor.
This meal will leave you licking your
fingers and begging for more.
MUSIC- The most popular
music listened to by the natives is Calypso,
Soca, Ragga Soca and Reggae, Grenada is
also known for their talented artists/entertainers
such as “Tallpree” “
Super P” and also The “Mighty
Sparrow” King of Calypso who was

FESTIVALS-.Grenada's
biggest festival is Carnival, held on
the second weekend in August. It includes
calypso and steel band competitions, all
sorts of costumed revelry, a pageant and
a grand finale 'jump-up' on the following
Tuesday. Many of Carnival's events are
held at Queen's Park, on the north side
of St George's. The Spice Island Billfish
Tournament held in January attracts anglers
from North
America and the Caribbean keen to hook
its six-figure first prize. The beautiful
spice Island of Grenada has historic and

cultural heritages. The island's easy
rhythms and the friendly openness of its
