On November 2, P. Diddy
will run in the New York City Marathon.
He made the official announcement at a
press conference at Niketown. Diddy said
“This is something that’s
a personal goal for myself. Aside from
the personal goal of competing, I’ve
set aside this event as a backdrop to
use to raise money and awareness for three
charities dedicated to improving the lives
of New York City children. We have the
goal of raising $1 million to
be divided between the Children’s
Hope Foundation, Daddy’s House social
programs and the public schools of New
York City.”
Puff has also enlisted
the help of Nike, McDonald’s,
Sean John, Foot locker, Hot 97, MTV
and has his friends, including,
NY Yankee Derek Jeter, Jay-Z, Magic Johnson
and Russell Simmons reaching
out to other people and organizations
trying to raise additional pledges. If
you wish to contribute to the fund call
877-Run-Diddy or go to www.diddyrunsthecity.com.
You can also go to Niketown or local Foot
Lockers to make a contribution in person.
Congratulations to 50 Cent
on becoming a homeowner (and what a home
it is). He is in the final stages of buying
a home that once belonged to Mike Tyson.
The Connecticut mansion sits on 17 acres
of land, has 61 rooms which include 18
bedrooms, 25 full bathrooms, 14 half bathrooms,
a 1,500 square ft. gym, a large movie
theater, an indoor pool, four whirlpools,
a waterfall, a boathouse, tennis courts,
a 3,500 square ft. nightclub and seven
kitchens (whoa!). Once valued at $25 million,
50 made a killing and purchased the home
for a measly $4.1 million.
He bought it from Tyson’s ex-wife
Monica Turner.
Missy Elliot’s
new album ----Sad news for Master P. and
his family, his brother Corey Miller aka
C-Murder was been found
guilty of the murder (second-degree) of
16 year old Steve Thomas on September
30. This crime carries a mandatory life
sentence. His father, Percy Miller, Sr.
spoke with the Associated Press and said
“the family will appeal the verdict”.
Mr. Smith went to Washington and took
Chuck D with him. Unfortunately, they
were on opposite sides of a Senate Hearing.
LL Cool J and Chuck D went to
D.C. to debate the pros and cons of file
sharing services. The hearing was called
to determine if the RIAA’s (Recording
Industry Association of America) mission
of suing music downloaders was too harsh.
Chuck was quoted as saying “P2P
to me means power to the people. I trust
the consumer more than I trust the people
at the helm of these [record] companies.”
LL countered with “if a contractor
builds a building, should people be allowed
to move into it for free, just because
he's successful?" Should they be
able to live in this building for free?
That's how I feel when I create an album
or when I make a film and it's shooting
around the planet for free.” Since
technology seems to advance almost daily,
one wonders if this situation will ever
be resolved.
Access 1 and Inner City Broadcasting
have joined forces in a joint venture
to syndicate “The Wendy
Williams Experience”. Starting
in January 2004 the show will go national.
She will continue to broadcast from New
York radio station 107.5WBLS in her 2-6
time slot. For those unfamiliar (or living
under a rock), Wendy’s show combines
hip hop, R&B, celebrity interviews
and gossip gossip gossip.
