Greetings CV Family;
It’s May in the
big city and things are starting to
heat up. The Reggae community is looking
forward to one of its biggest concerts
of the year, being held for the first
time at the world famous Radio City
Music Hall. The VP Records 25th Anniversary
Concert will showcase some of Reggae
music’s all time greatest performers
like Beres Hammond, Elephant Man, Shaggy,
Sizzla, Lady Saw and more. Then they
end off the month with a three day celebration
in Miami which adds to the line up Tanya
Stephens, Rik Rok, Baby Cham and more.
In addition, on Memorial Day weekend
we get ready for the fifth annual 93.5
FM Irie Jam soccer match in Roy Wilkins
Park. Queens, NY will once again host
Caribbean music legends as they square
off in a friendly game of football.
May is also the month
in which we set aside a day to honors
all the mothers out there. As Sizzla,
Buju Banton, The Intruders, and many
more have immortalized in song; you
only get one so thank you mama and a
special big up to all the single parents.
May is also the time
to build on our community’s pride.
College graduates from all over the
country will be counting themselves
among the ranks of the Caribbean American
success stories in America. Congrats
to all of you, make us proud.
