Deejay Mad Cobra was
recently the victim of burglary. His Portmore
home was robbed of valuables worth thousands
of dollars while he was away in Canada.
Mad Cobra noted that he was more interested
in getting the hard drive back more than
anything else, despite the cost of the
other valuables because it housed hundreds
of new unrecorded songs. "I don't
even want to know it's who, cause circumstances
make people do certain things sometimes,
and the country in a certain state. Mi
just need the hard drive, the oblong shaped
thing cause it important to me.”
Soca Switch, the tenth in a series of
much anticipated Soca compilations, is
loaded with nothing but top-10 hits from
Trinidad Carnival 2004.
Soca Switch 10 is a must have CD for all
who missed Carnival this year or want
the grooves to reminisce by. The 13-track
CD has hits by some of Trinidad's most
popular soca stars including the ever-popular
Machel Montano, Super Blue's baby girl
Fay Ann Lyons, Destra, Bunji Garlin, and
the list goes on. The CD opens with Shurwayne
Winchester's “The Band Coming”
(Trinidad Carnival's Road March winner
2004). From there we move into Machel's
“Craziness”, another outstanding
tune from one the genre's most talented
artists. The Carnival vibe electrifies
with Destra's Up in the Air. This CD is
known as Perfect Ten for a reason.
Tivoli Gardens Playfield was recently
invaded by Dancehall singer Ce’Cile
and a slew of female footballers as they
filmed her latest music video. The video,
for her song “Loser” finds
her teaming up Lady Saw on the “Thriller”
rhythm. The story finds these ladies of
Dancehall suited up with their female
team as they roust a men’s team.
MTV’s Jason “Jay Will”
Williams is directing this video with
the help of Ras Kassa. His prior experience
with Dancehall include KC Jockey’s
“Street Flossin’” and
“Bare as You Dare” by Carl
Henry featuring Ce’Cile.
Success also brings the winds of change
for Baby Cham. The Dancehall
deejay who recently signed a multi album
deal with to Atlantic Records has found
his image at the mercy of the corporate
legal maze. According to executives in
the legal department at Atlantic there
is someone out there wearing the same
name. So Baby Cham, who is still riding
high on the success of “Vitamin
S” will now be simply known as Cham,
just Cham.
