Greetings CV Family;
Carnival season is in full swing. Trinidad
and Tobago, Haiti, Dominica and more have
experienced concerts, fetes, and Mas!
Soca Monarch, Calypso and Steel Pan competitions
are creating the new artists to watch
in the summer of 2004. As the Caribbean
sends the wakeup call to the rest of the
Western world, here in New York, we are
just creeping into spring!
Congratulations Sean Paul and Lady Saw!
Thanks for helping to keep the entertainment
industry focused on the contributions
of Dancehall music. February also brought
some of the best Reggae shows in the world
at Bob Marley festivals from the East
coast to the West. New Yorkers also welcomed
traditional folk music from Jamaica’s
renowned Cari-Folk Singers performing
‘Tep Ova Makka’! Beenie Man
is back out on the road performing and
remains in the prayers of his fans.
March is Womens’ History Month
and we salute women who continue to make
history like Shoshana Johnson the Panamanian
native who became the first ever Black
female POW during the Iraqi war. This
month we are also looking for new music
from Usher and Prince. The 28th is Black
Marriage Day so love up your sweet thing
and celebrate!
Recent unrest in Haiti, Domica and the
Dominican Republic has us more focused
on world news. To accommodate your need
for up to the minute reporting, we have
added a 24-hour Caribbean News link to
our website. Remember to join our mailing
list for up to the minute events and notices.
We are listening to you, so keep the requests
coming, and we’ll see you throughout
the month at www.caribbeanvibeonline.com.
