Robert Clarke
Meet Robert Clarke, CEO, family man,
and entrepreneur. He represents that unique
slice of the immigrant story peppered
with immeasurable successes even when
the path is filled with obstacles. Bobby,
as he is affectionately called by his
friends emigrated to the U.S. with a plan
to be successful in business but not necessarily
knowing what path he was going to take.
This was not a deterrent however, as
when one is determined to rise to the
top the vision always presents itself.
Laying the foundation was a critical element
to this vision, so he obtained an associate
degree in computer science at Monroe College
and later a B.A. in Business Administration
at Iona College.
Armed with this educational-ammunition
his first attempt at business was a partnership
in the travel business, Bronx Travel Express,
with a school friend. Cutting his teeth
with a fairly successful business only
whetted Bobby’s appetite for more
challenging enterprises, thus Irie Jam
was born. His desire to present quality
radio programming to a hungry, ready and
economically viable Caribbean community
was the fuel driving this passion.
Ten years later Irie Jam (93.5FM WRTN)
heard weeknights and Saturdays, under
the astute leadership of Bobby Clarke
(with a competent executive team and disc
jockeys) is a potent force to be reckoned
with in the North American Market. It
has evolved over the years from its humble
beginnings to a becoming a necessary vehicle
for entertainment, news, and cohesion
within the Caribbean Community.
