LIZZ
FIELDS
There is an Ella essence with a touch
of Dianne Reeves in the voice that pours
out of Lizz Fields. Her style represents
the uniqueness the South Philly neo-soul
movement but is definitely infused with
her own jazzy vocals. A graduate of Creative
and Performing Arts High School, which
lays claim to alumni such as Boyz II Men,
Amel Larrieux and members of The Roots,
Lizz launched into her musical career
singing background vocals for Jill Scott.
Soon she found herself performing in
some of the best known Philadelphia venues
like Zanzibar Blue and the Five Spot.
She’s opened concerts for the likes
of Jody Watley, Kindred and the Jazzyfanastees.
Her tremendous stage presence and vibrant
performance style won her solo gigs in
New York at S.O.B’s, Joe’s
Pub and Nell’s. To see her live
is to see her shine, she captivates audiences
with her passion and untamed spirit.
Her unintentional debut CD “bydaybynight”,
which has sold over 12,000 units worldwide
by word of mouth, actually started out
as a demo. A friend gave it to a local
Chicago retailer and they put it on their
best-selling list and told other retailers
about the CD, and so on and so on. On
“bydaybynight” Lizz worked
with famed produced Damon Bennett to make
her sound distinctive in a sea of indie
artists and the combination worked. Together
they have created a cross-genre journey
for her listener that incorporates jazz,
soul, a little hip-hop and a lot of smooth
vocals.
Lizz has received nationwide radio support
on public and indie stations, and her
album has truly found its feet in Europe.
