An easy laugh, an easy smile, and a healthy sense of humor. These are just a few phrases that perfectly describe the qualities of this stage performer. Terik King learned early on in life that there is a ‘fine line between genius and insanity’. So at a young age he decided to mix a little insanity into his personality, get out there and pursue his dreams.

A self-admitted prankster and outspoken community activist, Terik, has long put away his fear of public opinion. After completing his vocal training at Berkeley College of Music, where he also majored in Music Business and Management, he threw himself into his goal of performing on a professional stage. Since those humble beginnings, Terik has transformed his vision into a celebrity studded reality. Over the years he has found himself performing in productions such as “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “The Reincarnation of Mozart” with Wynton Marsalis, as well as singing background vocals for Natalie Cole and Oleta Adams.

In maintaining his commitment to creating a more socially responsible outlet for all performers, he founded M.E.C.C.A—Millennium Entertainers Collaborative for Conscious Actions. This organization specializes in independent music distribution and live event promotions. And he has recently been honored by the NAACP with a Medal for Best Contemporary Vocalist.

When not hard at work, this avid jazz buff with a weakness for old standards can often be found in an intimate jazz club. However, Terik’s main guilty pleasure is traveling. He loves to visit different countries and experience other cultures. His athletic frame is maintained through dedicated gym time and a good book is a must.

Terik has cultivated his own special circle of friends mainly because he doesn’t believe in ‘typecasting’ people. The ability to ‘be yourself’ is very attractive to him. The characteristics that let him know he has stumbled into someone special are “individualism, uniqueness, genuineness, and drive. And remember, a little insanity is a good thing.” Genius.
