TimePlus Beats TV is the brainchild
of the George brothers, Junior and Johnny,
who came together in 1998 to fill a need
in New York’s Caribbean immigrant
community after recognizing that there
were no local television programs that
dealt with Caribbean culture. Their journey
has been a challenging one, especially
since producing a one hour weekly TV program
is no simple task. Multiply that challenge
when you consider starting from scratch
with little or no financing and a very
basic level of experience.
Time Plus Beats TV presents a balanced
format of information and entertainment.
Whether it’s sharing an inspiring
interview with 30 year Reggae legend,
Beres Hammond, or featuring hard hitting
investigative reporting such as the exclusive
interview with an FBI agent that took
us deep inside one of the world’s
most preeminent law enforcement organizations,
these brothers aspire to present the best
television and internet viewing experience
to its audience.
The program and its founders recently
received a City Council citation from
Councilman Dr. Kendall Stewart (D) for
outstanding work in promoting the culture
of the Caribbean since its formation in
1998. The weekly one-hour TV show is broadcast
on Channel 66 on Saturdays in Brooklyn
the Bronx and Manhattan, as well as in
their native Grenada on Saturdays at 7:30
p.m. But the program’s biggest impact
is its 24/7 webcast that is seen around
the world at www.timeplusbeats.tv.
“We have had to work very hard
and come up with creative ideas to market
the program and to keep the show going
these past five years. But we remain confident
that with strong business support and
our sponsors we can continue to grow.
I want to thank our sponsors for without
them there is no TimePlus Beats TV,”
said Junior George.
