Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, has made her debut on Broadway. She has taken over the role of Aida, in the play of the same name. She will hold the role for 10 weeks, following the departure of Toni Braxton. “She is such a strong young lady," Williams said of her character. “She's not afraid to stand up and say what she has to say and yet be sweet about it. She knows the game and how to play it." She is also prepping her second solo CD, “Do You Know?” with is scheduled to drop next month.

New York Post photographer James Alcorn filed a lawsuit in Queens County Supreme Court seeking damages from 50 Cent after 50's bodyguards allegedly attacked him on August 27. He was taking photos of 50 Cent as he left Jacob the Jeweler’s store on 47th Street.

Alcorn and his attorney filed the complaint against 50 Cent, his record companies — Interscope, Aftermath and Shady Records — and seven unnamed security guards that the plaintiffs are trying to identify. In a statement, Alcorn said he suffered "severe and serious injuries" from the assault, which the suit claims was done "knowingly, intentionally and willfully." The complaint asks for a little over $5 million for each of four causes of action: assault and battery, negligence, loss of service and punitive damages.

At press time, neither 50 or his bodyguards had been formally charged, the New York Police Department's investigation is ongoing.

It seems Murder Inc., home to artists such as Ja Rule, Ashanti and Charli Baltimore, will hereafter be known as “The INC.” Label president Irv Gotti, decided to finally get rid of the moniker that has done nothing but put the label in a negative light since it’s debut. In 2000, while trying to promote the LP Irv Gotti Presents... featuring the different artists on his roster, which he called “The Murderers ” a few video channels would not to include the group's name in their video credits and some record stores were a bit apprehensive about displaying the album in parts of the store that received a lot of traffic. In a statement Gotti said “I am changing the name so people can just try and focus on our music and not our name. I've been making hits now for close to ten years in this game. All everyone seems to want to focus on is the word 'murder.' Hopefully people will focus on me and my artist's talents, which is making great records and entertaining fans.”

Missy Elliott will meet with Adidas to negotiate a possible endorsement deal. Missy said in a statement “I got a meeting with Adidas finally, after sporting Adidas for so long… With endorsements, everybody wants the money, but for me it's about the long term: are we doing a line together, is this continuous, am I going to be able to have at least 95 percent creative input? Because after the money's gone, you could just be stuck with some clothes nobody buys." Well, good luck Missy.
