MICHAEL SIMMONDS
By
Andrea Daley
Michael Simmonds, a native of Trinidad
& Tobago, is the epitome of hard work,
integrity and success. As a recruitment
coordinator with Medgar Evers College
of The City University of New York he
has his fingers on the very pulse of an
issue that holds so much meaning to the
Caribbean community—education. It
is a position held with pride and served
with dignity by such a devoted member
of our community who is honored to be
in a position to help guide the career
path and educational opportunities of
our youth.
Mr. Simmonds is, himself, a product
of Medgar Evers where he gained his Bachelors
degree in Public Administration. He went
on to Brooklyn College to successfully
pursue his graduate degree in Political
Science/ International Affairs. As a student
he was very active, serving as Student
Government President, Vice Chairperson
of the City University of New York Student
Senate and the United States Student Association.
He sat on several committees within his
community including membership to the
study group- New York City and the world.
This group published its findings through
the Council on Foreign Relations.
He recently served as a member of the
11th session of The Commission for Sustainable
Development at the United Nations Headquarters,
New York. He is also a member of the Caribbean
Research Center at Medgar Evers College
and the Caribbean Action Lobby. His continued
service to the community will enable the
development of all, especially the Medgar
Evers family and the Caribbean Diaspora.
We at CVIBE continue to salute these
unsung heroes and invite you to do the
same!!
