Ky-enie is a true expression of Reggae
fusion. As you move through one of his
performances you’ll be taken on
a musical odyssey that is rooted in Reggae
music but touches on Dancehall, Folk,
and Acoustic Soul. His blend of spiritual
vibes and hardcore truths shows his listener
the depth of his understanding. He is
singing, deejaying, and strumming his
way through the pages of real life.
Born in Jamaica, Ky-enie decided as
a teenager that he would pursue his passion
for singing and deejaying. He went the
usual route of entering competitions and
talent showcases. That was a time for
him to hone his skills and learn to decipher
his voice from the many people who simply
followed the musical trends.
Ky-enie has been moving the crowd from
Jamaica to Canada to the USA with his
hard-edged vocal style and lyrical versatility.
He counts among his inspirations the late
Robert Nestor Marley, Buju Banton, and
Tracy Chapman. When he is performing on
stage he wants his audience to “feel
the positive side of the music and where
I am coming from. I’d like them
to feel the spiritual side of it as well
as the party vibe.”
We can look forward to hearing more
from this artist who has opened for headliners
such as Sean Paul, Buju Banton, and Sizzla
all around the United States. His first
single “Nah Left di Girls”
is due out on E2 Records by the end of
the year. The catchy hook on this dancehall
track already has industry insiders paying
full attention. Ky-enie’s humble
nature, along with his fierce determination
and uplifting attitude, has clearly positioned
him as next up for success.
