Tanya Stephens one of
the queens of dancehall has recently inked
a deal with VP Records to release her
album "Gangsta Blues" in February
2004. You may remember the melodic single
“It’s A Pity” from the
Reggae Gold 2003 compilation
album also released on VP Records.
Cultural Passport" was recently
released featuring 16 musicians from Dominica.
Timed to celebrate Dominica's Independence
and the acclaimed World Creole Music Festival,
the CD signifies the cultural ambassador
status of Dominica's musicians, including

Reggae Cowboys, Lazo, Camron Pierre, Jeff
Joseph & the Grammax band, Pat Aaron,
and Jahlee.
Vybz Kartel will have
his debut album released via Greensleeves
shortly. Meanwhile, there are several
songs out that you can enjoy; “Most
High”, “Sen On”, “Sweet
To Da Belly”, “Why U Doin
It” and “High Grade”.
But, you really don’t have to wait
long. His album, Up 2 Di Time is dropped
in November.
Veteran reggae singer Marcia
Griffiths who has been churning
out hits since the 1960s, is back on the
charts this time with a combination song.
Miss Griffiths' latest chart entry comes
in the form of "Live Life to the
Fullest' which features Hopeton Lindo.
The song has been released on the Cell
Block label. Currently number five in
its seventh week on the South Florida
reggae chart, the song is the first chart
hit for Griffiths in over a year.
Highly placed sources have been heard
saying Sean Paul was
bumped from the finalists in the Best
Reggae Album category of the 2004
Grammy Awards. It is understood
that Sean Paul's 'Dutty Rock' album which
has to date sold over 3 million copies
worldwide, has been selected as a finalist
in hip hop and R&B categories.
Shaggy is still working!
He’s been busy preparing for his
sixth album, a follow up to LUCKY DAY.
Even though it didn’t hit the ten
million plus that HOT SHOT reached, the
album still sold over two million copies
worldwide. The new album will fall under
GEFFEN/Interscope Records now that MCA
was dissolved. There’s no release
date as of yet, but it is expected out
the first quarter of next year. And the
movie, Blast, that he filmed this year
with Eddie Griffith is expected in theatres
this month.
