"CELEBRITY FASHION SHOW,'
'RED STRIPE PARTY' AMONG NEW EVENTS AT
IRIE
JAMBOREE 2K4
New York: Bobby Clarke and Steven Williams,
Directors of Irie Jamboree, were
beaming with excitement yesterday when
they revealed details of the festival
this year.
Williams announced that the festivities
will runs for four days and will
include a "Celebrity Fashion Show,
(Thursday, August 19) a "Red Stripe
Red
Party" (Friday, August 20) and a
"Landing Party" (Saturday, August
21) all
designed to get fans hyped and ready for
the big concert which takes place
at the Roy Wilkins Park in Queens on Sunday,
August 22nd.
According to Clarke, the Celebrity Fashion
show, slated for the world famous
Copacabana in Manhattan will feature some
of the hottest names in the
entertainment industry including soca
star Bunji Garlin, Cecile, New York
entertainers KC Jockey, singer Marsha
and Mickey Jarrett; well-known
celebrities; popular television and radio
personalities and other notables
who will model Caribbean and urban fashion
from designers Michael Gillins,
Luvvme Designs, Yardman Style, Afimi,
The Eye Collection and Reggae Rags.
Syn Dawkins, Denise Dixon and Michael
Williams will coordinate this effort.
Admission will be free to the "Red
Stripe Red Party" at Emerald Lounge
in
the Bronx. Steelie Bashment, Young Hawk,
Mr. Cee and Ghetto Life are the
sound systems confirmed to provide musical
juggling for the party. The
Landing Party" which takes place
at Club A in Queens, promises to be a
special occasion. The event is designed
to give patrons an opportunity to
meet and greet the Irie Jamboree performers
up close, in a party type
atmosphere. Black Emperor, Bobby Konders
and the Massive B crew will provide
music.
The highly anticipated concert on Sunday,
August 22nd promises to be another
humdinger and will be the highlight of
the 4-day festival. Top cultural
singer, Luciano, lovers' rock crooner
Barrington Levy, Freddie McGregor,
Bounty Killer, TOK, Cobra, Tanya Stephens,
Richie Spice, Zin, Richie
Stephens, KC Jockey, Frankie Paul, Cecile,
Mr. Easy, Anthony Cruz, Ed
Robinson, Red Rat, Ky-Enie and Jr. Demus
are among the confirmed acts. The
promoters have also added a special three
the hard way feature that will
showcase performances by Frankie Paul,
Half Pint and Pinchers. The official
launch party to kick off Irie Jamboree
2004 will be held in Manhattan soon.
