On May 8th, VP Records will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in New York at Radio City Music Hall. This spectacular celebration will feature live performances by Beenie Man, Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Elephant Man, Lady Saw, Marcia Griffith, Maxi Priest, Morgan Heritage, Sasha, Shaggy & Rick Rock, Tanto Metro & Devonte, TOK, Wayne Wonder, the Allstar Band featuring Saxophone Great Dean Frazer and more. With reggae dancehall music’s ever growing cross over appeal and burgeoning fan base, this one of a kind event will showcase the full spectrum of Caribbean music.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our 25th anniversary with our artists at this spectacular event at Radio City Music Hall,” said Randy Chin, CEO of VP Records. “This special evening will have all the fun, electricity and excitement of reggae and its cousin dancehall and is sure to be a memorable experience.”

In addition to this musical event at Radio City Music Hall, VP Records will continue to celebrate their 25th anniversary throughout the year with multiple events including exclusive releases, special projects and two anniversary parties in New York City and Miami.

Named by Billboard as the #1 Reggae Label Imprint, and on the heels of their most successful year ever, VP is the leading independent reggae dancehall music label today.

At the 46th Annual Grammy Awards this February, VP artist Sean Paul was awarded Best Reggae album, the first VP artist to win a Grammy.

VP's history dates back to the 1950’s where founder Vincent "Randy" Chin's first taste of the music industry was selling discarded jukebox records in Kingston, Jamaica. Vincent and his wife, Patricia, opened a tiny shop in downtown Kingston called Randy's Records. Following the success of this landmark shop, in 1979 Vincent opened a second retail store, this time in Jamaica, Queens. Taking their experience and music to the next step, they formed their own record label and distribution company, VP Records in 1993. In 2002, VP further strengthened its efforts by joining with Atlantic Records in a long-term strategic pact to provide VP with the vast resources of major label promotion and worldwide distribution.

VP Records, a global music empire, is the largest distributor of Jamaican music outside of Jamaica. They release an average of 60 reggae and soca albums each year including VP’s Reggae Gold series, a best-selling reggae anthology.

Air Jamaica is the official carrier for VP Record’s 25th Anniversary. The spectacular event at Radio City will be sponsored in part by Grace Tropical Rhythms, Caribbean Food Delights, and Sirius Satellite Radio.

VP’s 25th Anniversary extravaganza is a co-production of Jammins Productions and Radio City Entertainment. Tickets are currently available at Ticketmaster 212-307-7171 or www.ticketmaster.com. For further information visit www.vprecords.com.
