The path through life sometimes take
you through unexpected places; places
you never dare to dream of or even fantasize
about. Many of us look back at our lives
and our successes belie our beginnings
and if destiny has been that generous
to us we can only smile and then only
then begin to dream of further possibilities.
From an idea of Electronic Engineer
to becoming one of the most successful
radio disc jockeys, meet Dahved Levy current
king of the Caribbean swing. Dhaved, grew
up in Barbados, and at the age of 17,
migrated to the US for further studies.
City College was the beginning of a journey
that would define his life and career
for years to come.
While at City College he entered a Frankie
Crocker sound alike contest and won. The
opportunity put him in college radio where
playing at College parties soon became
his forte`. They were so successful and
profitable they opened up an unending
stream of bookings from state colleges
and other venues. Pretty soon he was the
toast of every happening party at Suny
Colleges and some of New York’s
hottest nightspots.
From there it was no turning back, his
expertise and hard work paid off and he
landed a job at Kiss Fm, moving on to
107.5fm WBLS and then to 1190am Wlib,
where he successfully juggled both positions,
all the time pulling in top arbritron
ratings. He has conquered the New York
entertainment scene in both radio and
promotions and continues to defy the odds,
rising to the top like sweet cream every
time.
I had the distinct privilege of interviewing
this very engaging bachelor while he worked
one Sunday evening in the studios of WBLS.
Ladies it’s a joy to watch him work.
His energy is infectious and his oh- so
attractive fingers move with such agility
and rhythmic motions on the boards, the
mind wanders… hmmm!
The Original Rude Bwoy or The original
Nappy Head Zulu Brand from Lutan, Big
Nose Big Lips, Everything Big, Small Fingers
Small Toes (he so unabashedly calls himself)
is every bit the strong, dominant, confident,
self-assured male many of us desire but
are afraid to take on. Don’t be
fooled by his aloof demeanor which sends
off the signal—look but don’t
touch, as once you start peeling, what
you will find is every girls dream…
Warm places, a passionate, conscientious
heart and the soul of a man, who conquers
all your fears and quells the voices in
your head, which tells you, “no,
this can’t be true.”
Not one to structure the dating experience,
“going with the flow makes for more
pleasurable moments” he says; he
approaches each date with an open mind
and wants that lucky lady to do the same.
“You learn so much about a person’s
passion that way.”
Dhaved’s sense of adventure and
appreciation of life is the blueprint
for limitless possibilities and a strong
and centered life. Being a part of that,
is an experience worth having and a path
worth sharing. Why wait?
